Family Photos
This section explores photos of Maurice, as a child in Amsterdam, up to the age of four. Then there is a black empty space. The photos start again on arrival in London after the war, school years and Maurice as a teenager. The last ones we use are of his wedding.
After 14 years Maurice split up from his wife, with whom he had two children. He never showed me any photos from later in his life or of other girlfriends. I didn’t ask for them.

I knew his kids were more important to him than anything but I never met his daughter and only rarely his son. I left them out of this portrait and it makes a big hole. We have talked about this now so their pictures appear in the 'photos' section.
Many of Maurice’s family were murdered in Nazi camps. His father died in Auschwitz, his grandmother and baby sister died in Bergen Belsen where he was.
